Against All Odds

I love the chaotic randomness of the Deck of Many Things. I don’t think I’ve used it much over the years, but when it does make an appearance things get really interesting at the table really fast. Over the years I’ve grown to enjoy some of this random chaos and uncertainty. I’ve been involved in a lot of organized  play, where something like losing all you own or gaining a crapton of experience just doesn’t happen. You’d never see something like the Deck in a board game or most video games: it’s wild sweeping altering of fortune only really has a place in a tabletop RPG. It’s something unique to this hobby.
