Blood of Kings
I just started a new campaign, with the players excitedly bringing their freshly painted and occasionally customized miniatures, either tweaking Reaper Bones or modding with a mixture of generic accessories and Green Stuff epoxy. It’s great that they’re so excited for their character. But, as a DM, it makes it much harder to kill characters as they’re not just an investment of the tens of minutes needed to generate the characters but of money needed to buy a miniature and potential hours needed to customize and paint. The more time and customization required (such as with a mini that incorporates magnets for modular accessories) the harder it is to kill that character.
Well, our DM once customized a whole set of miniatures to represent our group… then ,we all managed to get our PC’s killed in one way or another.
Although we didn’t do that on pourpose, the DM got mad about it… now I realized why!
