Confession time: I suck at video games. I have a poor sense of timing, limited muscle memory with my hands, and poor hand-eye coordination. I can handle most RPGs easily enough, but I also suffer from a poor tactical brain, which makes tricky combats that require lots of coordination and strategy even harder. I end up setting most games to “very easy”, the difficulty where they stick a soother and bonnet on the protagonist’s icon to demonstrate how much of a digital wuss I am. Platforming is my bane. Having to coordinate jumps where a single bad move spells death is my achilles heel. But even skilled gamers born with a controller in their hands can sometimes break out in a cold sweat at the thought of swinging platforms.
