Change is in the Air

The public playtest for Pathfinder 2 dropped the other day, with hard copies for those who pre-ordered and PDFs for everyone else. I’ve been slowly working through the documents and might eventually gets some thoughts together in the form of a review. There’s quite a bit of feedback available, and some of it I agree with and some of it I don’t. One of the more curious comments I’ve come across were the people complaining that the options in the playtest were generic. Because… the baseline options of the game should be weird and niche choices? Sure, people who have funkier non-standard characters will have a harder time upgrading at launch. But I’m not sure it will be better if the game focuses on offbeat and non-generic choices in the core book and leaves the more standard options for the first accessory.
