Ecological Menace

It’s always an interesting challenge to construct “realistic” dungeons. And by that, I mean dungeons with a not entirely improbable ecosystem. That means an air cycle for the creatures that breathe, a food supply for the creatures that eat, and a place to rest for those that sleep. It’s a little too easy to forget and have the rat swarm nesting in a region devoid of life, or the airtight sealed chamber housing a carrion crawler. But you don’t want to just limit every dungeon to walking dead, golems, and oozes. Because that would be boring.
