Favoured Terrain

Nothing signals to the party like they’re about to encounter a monster like drawing a miniature scale map. Having a preprepared map with extra details doubly so. It screams out “the features are relevant!”

A mook fight can take place in an unmarked hallway or a squiggle vaguely resembling a drunken impressionist artist’s interpretation of a square scrawled with wet-erase marker. Because drawing the map shouldn’t take longer than the fight, so it’s seldom worth adding the extra effort of details, let alone cross hatching. More detail tends to mean things are about to get real.
