Interencounter Ballistic Missile Weapon
One of the players in my 5th Edition game has the infamous Sharpshooter feat. I adjusted its power by limiting the -5 to hit and +10 to damage to once per turn and that’s working very well. He and the other fighter at the table (as swashbuckler) are easily the damage kings of the game, alternating between being the MVP depending on whose dice are hot. In practice, the more game breaking element of the feat is being able to launch death at long range without penalty. The archer’s standard procedure now is to attack and then move back 30 feet, gradually increasing his distance until he’s roughly in the area of the previous encounter. This does mean he’s virtually unassailable in most combat encounters, being 570 feet away from the threat of melee.
