Irrefutable Logic

There’s a fine line between the philosophies of “if it has stats, we can kill it” and “if it has stats, we should kill it.” A lot of player’s first reaction to adversity and opposition is violence. Sometimes it’s not just their first reaction, but their second and third. Their only response actually.

Sandbox video games propagate this idea. Important plot NPCs are often unkillable to prevent the story or missions becoming impossible to finish. This means if a character is killable you were effectively meant to kill them.
