On the Trail

I’m a child of the ’80s. I should have played the infamous Oregon Trail dozens of times as a young kid. Especially as I was raised in the ‘burbs in a well-off school with many a computer. Somehow, I was not introduced to the game until well into my teens, circa 1992. After seeing how easy it was to die, I set out not to reach Oregon but to see how quickly I could kill off my entire wagon, packing no food and attempting to cross a river swollen with spring runoff. It was a hilariously poor attempt at travelling to Oregon.

It’s probably a good thing for my players that I don’t apply the same dedication to failure as a Dungeon Master.
