Planning for the Future

Ubiquitous in console RPGS, I’ve seen a few attempts to translate save points into tabletop role-playing games. The trick is combats can take some time, and replaying a battle or dungeon is time consuming, even if you can go about the delve differently. The random element of the dice means even if you “succeeded” for half the fight, you have no guarantee of replicating the feat the second time, and a lucky critical the first time cannot be counted on the second.
