So That’s What Happened to Them

I loved the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon as a kid. And now I have a son of my own and I’m introducing him to the show, probably at about the same age I was when the show premiered. (Albeit slightly too young for the show. Oh well, I’m a terrible father.) It brings me great joy to have him recognize creatures like the beholder or Tiamat.

But, like so many cartoons of the era, it doesn’t have an ending. It’s an unfortunate “endless quest” TV show where the protagonists search for something they’ll never ever achieve, for if they do the show ends. But, as Ernest Hemingway once said, “all stories, if continued far enough, end in death”. If they show had continued long enough, there was one inevitable outcome.
